Open Source Architecture / WIKI

This organization has over 40+ charters associated with its cause and growing. Which makes it difficult to associate “ONE” group with the title. The cause being one of humanitarianism and social awareness. They address a plethora of needs associated to design. Allowing the people and community themselves to design solutions to their own needs. These solutions work and can be implemented seamlessly with the efforts and support of others. Also, with the assurance that the solutions function. The result isn’t architecture that is meant to be idolized, revered or iconized, but rather act as a catalyst of change. Architecture that reforms, strengthens and improves the quality of life amongst communities across the globe. WOW!!! I mean can there be any better architecture model?

What’s up rock stars, artists, hipsters, eco-friendly huggers and all you creative cats? RD+A is diggin deep into your imaginative hearts and given you exactly what you’ve been waiting for RETAIL GOODS.

It’s a growing collection of recycled bike tube paraphernalia, apparel and of course we can whip up interior design goods [lighting, furniture, millwork, environments or whatever your freakin deep down desires are].

Exclusive offers are always available here on the website, only a click and message away. Of course your’s truly will add that touch you’ve come to expect and love to the purchase. Or you can find some items at a local hot spot right here in CHICAGO!!! If you are interested in carrying items at your location I invite you to touch base and we’ll work it out.

DE-LICIOUS CAFE is just one of the awesome locations that carries our recycled bike tube gear. De-licious specializes in vegan eateries and tasty beverages. The location is whimsical, artsy, inviting, comfy and from a designers perspective…just a bitchin place that I wish I would have designed. They are truly the defenders against corporate coffee houses and mass consumerism. It’s a mom and pop cafe at its core. If De-licious were a person it would rock a handlebar stache and tear up the streets with its fixie. Beyond their [at the risk of sounding cheesy] DELICIOUS yummies, they support local artisans and update their wall art with some of the most genius works I’ve seen out of this city. If you live in Chicago and don’t visit then you are missing out on some good eats and good peeps.

Still not convinced…then check this, celebrity and friend John Magaro rocks a custom made wallet that he picked up at De-licious. So jump on the wagon get in and get some today!

Rahm Emanuel is making Bloomingdale Trail one of his first priorities. It is an investment in the redevelopment and salavge of Chicago’s elevated railway. The railway will be open to the public and connect various parts of North Chicago in an east west direction.

Making a strong point that this project will not be compared to NYC, The High Line. Wanting the exposure and grandure of this project to stand on its own. This is an effort to revitalise a struggling and often neglected community.

Parks have and always will be the beating heart of a healthy urban plan. The attraction of nature brings people together in a way that can support growth better than any business plan. IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.

Lego Apartment is a deceptive name for the concept of utilizing every square inch to gain maximum function of a space. The idea of having the capability of tucking away or hiding the chaos of a home into a compartmentalised system is ingenious.

By having a limited space you are restricted in waste of space. This lends an advantage of designing abstractly inorder to create more from less. Then, by enclosing the bare bones of what people need in a home you are left with a seamless, minimalist and harmonious intimate environment.

Have you ever wanted to feel the sunlight on your face, breathe in the smell of trees and hide under their canopy while at work? What a wonderful project and work experience this must be. I can’t imagine a better work environment to be inspired and feel uplifted by each day. If I’m going to spend a 1/3 [third] of my life indoors working then this wouldn’t be half bad.

In addition to the sensational elements of this office, it has been studied that your work environment has a direct correlation to your productivity. This space will lower absency records, increase quality of life, lower stress levels and emotionally respond to the occupants subconscious. It is constantly astonishing to me that by being mindful of design decisions can have a literal domino reaction. It makes what we do all the more vital to civilization.
